My Irish Souvenir

I have never been a big fan of souvenirs. Everybody has a silly t-shirt from Disney World! That money can be better spent on doing things that I can come home and brag about! :)

How many of you can say you ever had the opportunity to hand fill a bottle of Jameson whiskey straight from the cask?  Today I spent my hard-earned money on this souvenir "experience" at the Jameson Distillery.

I filled a bottle of cask strength whiskey straight from a live bourbon barrel.

Then I personalized the label by hand with my name, the date, the whiskey’s cask number (18953), the bottle number (213) and ABV (59.8%).

Afterwards, I meticulously applied the label to the bottle ever so carefully to avoid a crease.

Finally, I logged my bottle and wrote my name into the long, storied history of Jameson.  If any of you visit Dublin and go to the Jameson Distillery you can simply find my name in the log books by quoting them the cask number from my bottle.  BOOM!  It's in the record books!  How's that for an Irish souvenir?

Let's just say I could buy quite a few silly souvenir t-shirts from Disney World for what this one bottle Jameson whiskey cost me!  Now let's just hope I can get it home safely in my luggage!!!

***I did get to taste a sample of this stuff after my bottle was poured.  Believe me when I say this...cask strength whiskey will definitely put hair on any man's (or woman's) chest!!! It's a bit heavier and bolder with quite a different flavor than your normal whiskey.  Woooooo!!!!
